Website Design & Development

Project Overview

A new website for Axis CLC, the newly merged national property maintenance group. The website was built to unify two established brands under one roof – Axis Europe and CLC Group.

Project Brief

Axis CLC was formed through the merger of Axis Europe and CLC Group, bringing together two of the UK’s leading property maintenance and compliance providers. With over 110 years of combined experience, 2,500+ employees, and 18 branches nationwide, the new group needed a website that reflected the scale and ambition of the merged business.

The challenge was twofold. First, the site needed to establish Axis CLC as a credible, unified brand, giving equal weight to the expertise of both companies. Second, it needed to communicate a broad service offering across multiple sectors, including social housing, healthcare, defence, education, and blue light services, without overwhelming visitors or diluting the message.

The project goal was to showcase each organisation’s core sector experience and skill sets, while better communicating case studies and previous work in a way that drives engagement and demonstrates expertise.

Our Approach

Brand-led design

We developed an image-led, contemporary design that favoured bold lead statements, strong imagery, and clear visual hierarchy. The design needed to feel authoritative and established, despite the brand being entirely new, so we focused on a layout that let the breadth of the group’s work speak for itself.

Structured for scale

With six core sectors, multiple service lines, and three distinct companies within the group, information architecture was critical. We built a structure that allows visitors to navigate by sector or service, surfacing relevant case studies and credentials at every touchpoint. The goal was to make the depth of experience immediately visible, not buried.

Built to perform

The site was built on a stable, robust CMS platform with AA accessibility compliance as standard. Every template was designed to be modular and scalable, giving the Axis CLC team the flexibility to add content as the group continues to grow and integrate.

The Result

Within 12 months of launch, the brand-new domain was already building strong organic visibility and delivering quality traffic.

The site achieved an average search position of 10.7, placing Axis CLC on the first page of Google for key terms, a strong result for a domain with no prior search history. With nearly 2,000 users in a three-month window and an average engagement time of 1 minute 47 seconds, the site is performing well above typical benchmarks for a new build.
