Project Brief

Wow Camping is an online camping wholesaler with thousands of products spanning a wide range of price points and brands. They came to us with concerns that their existing campaigns weren’t making the most of available features, and that growth had plateaued under their previous agency.

The priority was a stable handover followed by meaningful improvements. The main goals were outlined as:

  • Restructuring campaigns for more granular control over budget, bidding, and ROI across a large product catalogue
  • Introducing data-driven and target ROI bidding strategies to replace manual management
  • Expanding into new channels and campaign types to maximise visibility during peak trading periods

Our Approach

We rebuilt Wow Camping’s campaign structure from the ground up, breaking thousands of products into meaningful groups by category, brand, and popularity. This gave us the control needed to manage budget and performance at a much more detailed level across a competitive market where many retailers sell similar or identical products.

With a large volume of historical data in the account, we transitioned from manual bidding to data-driven automated strategies, ensuring ads were shown to the users most likely to convert. Wow Camping operates to a strict return on investment target, so we implemented Target ROAS bidding to allow the campaign to scale spend in line with sales rather than being limited by a fixed monthly budget.

For key products and peak trading periods, we introduced Performance Max campaigns to maximise visibility and sales across multiple channels. Alongside Google, we ran Facebook product ads covering both remarketing and cold audience targeting to capture demand that might not come through search alone. Reporting was tailored to match Wow Camping’s internal cadence, with weekly ecommerce snapshots and detailed monthly breakdowns.

The Result

The restructured campaigns delivered transformational growth. Revenue increased by 460% and transactions grew by 505%, driven by the shift to data-driven bidding, a more granular campaign structure, and the introduction of Performance Max during peak periods.

The move to Target ROAS bidding meant this growth was achieved within Wow Camping’s strict return on investment targets, improving profit for the wider business, not just within Google Ads. New users increased by 234%, demonstrating that the expanded channel strategy successfully brought the brand in front of audiences who hadn’t previously discovered them.
